A healthy family Bible study starts with your own relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Establish a consistent habit of reading or listening to the Word of God daily.
I personally listen to an audio version of the Bible shortly after waking up—often while walking, running, or biking. This is an excellent approach for anyone with a busy schedule. Android Gideon Bible App Apple Gideon Bible App
Your mind may wander at times while listening. This is normal. As you continue hearing Scripture repeatedly, it begins to take root.
Over time, you’ll start seeing connections between the Old and New Testaments, and between different New Testament passages. This is when your understanding of Scripture begins to grow rapidly.
Choose a time your family naturally gathers.
In our home, breakfast works well because we always eat breakfast together.
To stay consistent, I remind myself:
“If I can feed my body every day, I must also feed my spirit every day through the Word of God.”
You do not need to be a scholar. Simply open the Bible and read it with your family.
Make a personal commitment to lead your family in Bible study every day for 30 days.
This 30‑day goal is crucial—consistency builds habit.
Keep the studies short and simple.
You do not need to preach a 45‑minute sermon.
Read a chapter (or part of one), make a few comments, and allow the Word to speak for itself.
Share how the passage has impacted your life or the lives of others when appropriate.
If you don’t have insights on a particular day, don’t worry—just read the Scriptures.
Our family studies typically last 8–13 minutes, which is enough time to read a chapter and offer brief reflections.
If you think, “This seems too simple,” remember:
God does not need our help.
Hebrews 4:12 teaches that the Word of God is “living and active… sharper than any double‑edged sword.”
As you grow in your own reading, the Holy Spirit will naturally give you more insight to share.
Your stage of life may determine how you begin, but the principle is the same: start today.
If you are single:
Establish your own daily Bible‑reading habit. Audio Bibles can be especially helpful.
If you are dating:
Lead the young woman you’re interested in through Scripture when you’re together. This lays a strong spiritual foundation for a future marriage.
If you are married without children:
As the spiritual leader of your home, guide your wife in daily Bible study.
If you have children:
Continue the habit with them. Your approach may change depending on their age, but the commitment remains the same.
